Village Life: Advantages and Disadvantages

In India the largest population lives in villages. The life in villages is tough but not rough. Along with advantages of village life we will discuss some disadvantages.  Let's begin with disadvantages. The roads in villages are very bad. In rainy season they becomes worst. Transportation remains at halt.   There is no regular power supply and water. People in villages face many difficulties due irregular power. They have to fetch water from wells on heads. They fail to irrigate their forms at proper time. Network is another issue at village. Connectivity gets lost frequently. Rate of illiteracy is increasing in villages. Some villages have no schools at all. Children have to go to nearby village for schooling. This gives vent to dropout and turns into illiteracy. Blind beliefs, superstition mars the village life.

Though there are some disadvantages of village life there are certain advantages. Villages are industry free means pollution free. We get fresh air there. Breathing is smooth. The life in villages is beautiful. The surrounding is green and natural. Living in such places makes people healthy. People in villages are healthy. They live in peaceful environment. They live in hormony. They help each other in their everyday work. They enjoy together. They suffer together.Life in villages is co-operative. Gandhiji rightly said,"Turn to village."

Trees are our best friends.

Speech

Pollution is a big problem nowadays. We are the witness to air pollution and water pollution. Who aren't responsible for this ? We all are polluting air and water. Emission from vehicles, industrial waste, burning of garbage and use of chemicals  are the major causes of pollution. The pollution is hazardous to human being and animals. It leads to severe diseases.
Some of these can not be removed but repaired. Trees play a vital role in stopping the pollution. Trees absorb the emissary and harmful gases and keep the air clean. So the more trees, the less pollution. We should begin stopping the felling of trees and wildfire. At same time we should plant trees. It's not a job of government and NGOS only. Every individual has to plant the trees and save the trees. To make the awareness among the people, we should observe vanmahotsav.  Through such celebration we should stress the importance of trees. Trees are the only source we have for our requirements of oxygen. We breath because of trees. Trees absorb what we exhale. Trees release what we need to inhale. So we should accept and believe that no trees no life.  Our every celebration should begin with planting trees.
Trees are our best friends.

Speech : Role of a Teacher

Your school has decided to celebrate “Teacher's Day” Draft a speech with the help of following points. You may add your own points.

Respected Principal, honourable chief guest, adorable teachers and loving friends,
Today are gathered here to celebrate Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary as teachers day.
Paying tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan I would like to speak the role of a teacher in shaping the child . In school and college the teacher plays multiple roles. She plays different roles such as friend, philosopher and guide. She treats children as a friend to boost their confidence. She shows them the right path of life and guide them to take the decision.

She plays the role of facilitator and motivator. She makes the lesson easy and motivates students to to get success. She becomes the role model for many students. Her work is not limited to teaching. She has to design a curriculum. While teaching she has to perform and becomes actor, mentor and leader.  On certain occasions students are in need of mentor. Here the teacher extends helping hand. To inculcate the leadership qualities among students, teacher plays a role leader and takes her students to the target. She plays the role of a planner. When students find difficult situations either in study or in personal life, the teacher becomes a counselor for them. In this modern age of technology the teacher becomes technosavy. Assesment is the part and parcel of students' life. Every now and then she plays the role of assessor by assessing students through exams , tests and assignments.

Activity Sheet on Non Textual Extract

Read the extract and complete the activities that follows :

As far as the technical study of body language goes perhaps the most influential pre-twentieth-century work was Charles Darwin's The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals' published in 1872. This spawned the modern studies of facial expressions and body language and many of Darwin's ideas and observations have since been validated by modern researchers around the world. Since that time, researchers have noted and recorded almost one million non-verbal cues and signals. Albert Mehrabian found that the total impact of a message is about 7 per cent verbal (words only) and 38 per cent vocal (including tone of voice, inflection and other sounds)and 55 per cent non-verbal. Professor Birdwhistell made some similar estimates of the amount of non-verbal communication that takes place amongst humans. He estimated that the average person actually speaks words for a total of about ten or eleven minutes a day and that the average sentence takes only about 2.5 seconds. Like Mehrabian, he found that the verbal component of a face-to face conversation is less than 35 per cent and that over 65 per cent of communication is done non-verbally.

Most researchers generally agree that the verbal channel is used primarily for conveying information, while the non-verbal channel is used for negotiating interpersonal attitudes and in some cases is used as a substitute for verbal messages. For example, a woman can give a man a "look to kil!': convey a very clean message to him without opening her mouth.

Regardless of culture, words and movements occur together with such predictability that Birdwhistell says that a well-trained person should be able to tell what movement a man is making by listening to his voice. In like manner, Birdwhistell learned how to tell what language a person was speaking, simply by watching his gestures.

Many people find difficulty in accepting that humans are still biologically animals. Homo sapiens is a species of primate a hair-less ape that has learned to walk on two limbs and has a clever, advanced brain. Like any other species, we are dominated by biological rules that control our actions, reactions, body language and gestures. The fascinating thing is that the human animal is rarely aware of his postures, movements and gestures that can tell one study while his voice may be telling another.
